Skylar Dyck of Warman won the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) Provincial Intermediate Girls Cross-Country championship last weekend in Humboldt.

Dyck finished well ahead of her competitors in the 86-runner pack, completing the course in a time of 11 minutes and 17 seconds.

Second-place finisher Emilee Rieger of Regina had a time of 11 minutes and 55 seconds, while bronze medalist Nikolina Kapovic of Moose Jaw completed the course in 12 minutes and 20 seconds.

Presley MacLeod of Osler placed 30th in the event with a time of 13 minutes and 47 seconds. Halle Block of Rosthern was 43rd, Kamryn Van Dyck of Hague was 68th, Sabra Richardson of Langham was 72nd, Shaelyn Campbell of Langham was 74th, and Elizabeth Shaw of Asquith was 77th.

Clavet’s Ethan Randall of Clavet narrowly missed out on a bronze medal after finishing fourth in the Senior Boys Cross-Country event in Humboldt. Randall finished the course in a time of 17 minutes and 31 seconds, just 16 seconds behind third-place finisher Fergus English of Saskatoon’s Walter Murray Collegiate. Jonathan Podbielski of Regina Campbell won the event with a time of 16 minutes and 24 seconds; Nathaniel Dosman of Saskatoon’s Aden Bowman Collegiate was second at 17 minutes and eight seconds.

Derek Neufeld of Langham was 39th, Jonathan Grilz of Aberdeen was 74th, and Mc Merejilla of Aberdeen was 85th in the 90-runner pack.

Two Clavet runners finished in the top ten of the Senior Girls event in Humboldt. Katie Simonson was 8th with a time of 17 minutes and 36 seconds and her teammate Elizabeth Wright was close behind in 9th spot with a time of 17 minute sand 44 seconds.

Adriah Buhler of Warman was 17th, Jaylynn Quail of Clavet was 28th, Kate Block of Waldheim was 30th, Rian Breakey of Rosthern was 44th, Rachel Halko of Rosthern was 49th, and Chloe Wiens of Dalmeny was 54th in the 93-runner pack.

Jadyn Palaschuk of Moose Jaw won the Senior Girls event with a time of 15 minutes and 58 seconds; Akuol Riak of Moose was second with a time of 16 minutes and 7 seconds, and Molly Lakustiak of Regina was third with a time of 16 minutes and 27 seconds.

Ben Chabayl of Waldheim was the top area finisher in the Intermediate Boys event last weekend. He placed 19th with a time of 11 minute and 43 seconds. Ty Randall of Clavet was 28th; Braeden Eikel of Langham was 59th; Leo Boutin of Clavet was 60th; Matthew Nelson of Clavet was 61st; Wyatt LaRoche of Langham was 65th and Dreyten Bugler-Cann of Beardy’s Cree Nation was 97th in the 98-runner pack.

The gold medal in the Senior Boys event was won by Graham Farthing of Saskatoon’s Evan Hardy Collegiate; Jerin Keough of Langenburg was second, and Alec Teichler of Regina was third.

Rhiann Arnold of Rosthern placed 14th in the Junior Girls event, while Tayen Werner of Langham also competed but did not finish. The event was won by Annie Beveridge-Warick of Saskatoon’s Aden Bowman Collegiate; Eve Ouellet of Regina was second and Gabrielle Kaban of Regina was third.

Will Coates of Delisle was 36th in the Junior Boys event; Ayden Lowndes of Clavet was 54th; and Cyrus Lo of Rosthern was 74th in the 80-runner pack. The event was won by Henry Bristol of Regina; while Adonius Downes of Regina was second and Jacob Klassen of Prince Albert was third.
