The Martensville Marauders U13AA team won the Evan Thomas Memorial Hockey Tournament last weekend in Saskatoon, steamrolling over their opposition in decisive fashion. The Marauders won the title in 2019, and repeated as defending champions this year. The tournament was cancelled last year. The trophy lists ‘Coronavirus’ as the winner for 2020. The 23-team tournament drew teams, including Warman Wildcats and Estevan Bruins, from across Saskatchewan and from as far away as Calgary. The tournament is named in honour of the late Evan Thomas, a member of the Humboldt Broncos who was killed in a tragic collision between the team bus and a semi-trailer unit on April 6, 2018. Thomas had played his Pee Wee AA hockey with the Saskatoon Mission.
