The Clavet Cougars six-man football team dominated the opposition in their 62-22 win over the visiting Rosetown Royals in the game played on Thursday, September 9.

Quarterback Trey Goebel run for two touchdowns, while receivers Brock Dufort, Tyler Walker, and Asher Thomas-McEachern contributed with two touchdowns each.

The defence displayed solid coverage and great tackling in holding the Royals to a pair of touchdowns by running back Mitchel Robbie, and a quarterback sneak by Mathew Morris.

The Clavet Cougars’ next home game is Friday, September 17 at 4:00 p.m. when they host Plenty. Their final regular season game is on Friday, October 15 when they travel to Biggar.

MARTENSVILLE DOWNS HUMBOLDT

The Martensville Royals  9-man high school football team also got off to a hot start at home this season, outscoring Humboldt 43-27 on Friday, September 10.

Martensville’s next game on Friday, September 24 is against the Delisle Rebels in Delisle. Game time is 4:00 p.m.

There are two regular season games in October for the Royals. They play in Humboldt on Friday, October 1 at 4:00 p.m.; and finish off the regular season on Friday, October 15 when they host Delisle at 4:00 p.m.

DALMENY AND ROSTHERN START REGULAR SEASON THIS WEEK

The Dalmeny Cougars and Rosthern Longhorns met in an exhibition matchup on Thursday, September 9, but the final score was not available. Both teams are in the same 6-man football conference this year, so the rivalry between them should be intense by the time playoffs arrive in late October.

Dalmeny opens its regular season on the road in Big River on Thursday, September 16. The Cougars’ next three games are at home, hosting Hafford on Thursday, September 23, Rosthern on Thursday, September 30, and Shellbrook on Thursday, October 7. The Cougars finish up their regular season on the road in Shellbrook on Thursday, October 14.

The Rosthern Longhorns, meanwhile, open the regular season at home on Thursday, September 16 when they host Shellbrook. Their next three games are on the road: Thursday, September 27 in Shellbrook, Thursday, September 30 in Dalmeny, and Thursday, October 7 in Hafford. They wind up the regular season with a home game against Big River on Thursday, October 14.
