The Saskatoon Police Service Economic Crime Section is advising members of the public to be aware of potentially fraudulent door-to-door solicitation in Saskatoon.
Recently there have been reports of people representing an organization called HopeCo who claim to be collecting money for charity. It has also been reported that they are attempting to recruit young adults for potential employment, should they answer the door. This is also believed to be fraudulent activity. Recruits are asked to transfer money to the potential “employer” who does not exist. According to the Better Business Bureau, HopeCo is not registered with the Information Services Corporation or with the City of Saskatoon and is flagged for high risk behavior or practices.
Residents who are visited by people claiming to represent this organization should be vigilant and refuse all solicitation. If you have been the victim of fraudulent activity visit https://saskatoonpolice.ca/economic/ for more information on how you can report.
