Warman Fire Rescue (WFR) experienced another month of above-average call volume in July, responding to 48 emergencies.
In a written report to Warman City Council on Monday, August 16, Warman Fire Chief Russ Austin said last month was the busiest July the fire department has ever had.
To date, WFR emergency personnel have responded to 332 calls during 2021. Medical and public assistance calls account for 260 of those incidents, with 36 in the month of July alone.
Of the medical calls in July, 17 incidents (47%) involved patients over the age of 60. Three calls were for patients suffering from chest pain, 12 for ‘shortness of breath’ and two calls involved patients with ‘Covid-like’ symptoms.
The Warman fire department has responded to 72 fire and rescue calls from January 1 to July 31, with 12 of those calls occurring during the month of July.
Two fires took place in the city of Warman itself, including a garage fire and an incident of trees in an alley on fire. There were three occasions where Warman was called on to provide mutual aid to battle fires in the RM of Corman Park: one incident near Osler and two near Martensville.
WFR emergency personnel also attended one ‘elevator rescue’ at a seniors’ residence in Warman.
There were two motor vehicle collisions and one vehicle fire in the RM of Corman Park near Warman that required a response by WFR personnel.
