At 1:12 p.m on Wednesday, May 12., the Saskatoon Fire Department received a report of a grass fire along the north side of the railway tracks along Highway 7 at range road 3065.

One engine, one brush truck and a tanker responded to the fire.

The Canadian National (CN) railway was notified as the fire was along their tracks. CN sent a representative to the site who advised they would shut down the tracks until the fire was extinguished.

At 1:56 p.m., the wind changed direction and the fire began travelling quickly to the south. Another engine and a brush truck were dispatched to support extinguishment.

The primary focus is to protect structures, contain the fire and extinguishment.

Engine companies were dispatched to the site to provide relief for the firefighters on scene.

Train movement was resumed at 3:35 p.m.
