COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Warman and Martensville are doing a booming business.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) established appointment-based walk-in clinics in both cities last week. In Warman the clinic is located in a leased building in the Warman Plaza on Central Street; while in Martensville it is set up in the city-owned North Ridge Centennial Community Centre on 3rd Street North.
As of Monday, April 5, Saskatchewan residents age 58 and older are eligible to book vaccination appointments online at the Government of Saskatchewan website or by phoning 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829). The age eligibility is subject to change, with regular updates posted on the government website.
A drive-through clinic in Warman at the city’s fire hall , operated on a first-come, first-served basis, was launched by the SHA on Tuesday morning, April 6. Long lineups of vehicles greeted the opening of the drive-through clinic.
Residents age 55 and older were initially eligible for vaccination at the drive-through clinic.
The SHA said all residents are urged to seek vaccination as soon as they become eligible in order to protect themselves and those around them.
The SHA said all the vaccines being administered are safe and approved by Health Canada for use.
All of them are important to help protect the public from severe illness and death from COVID-19. The booking agents do not have access to information about the kind of vaccine you’re getting, and the brand you receive is subject to change, based on available supplies.
“To ensure a positive experience for those eligible and minimize waits, please do not attend the clinic unless you have been advised your age is eligible,” stated SHA officials.
Individuals who choose to access the drive-through rather than keeping their booked appointment are asked to cancel online.
Visit www.saskatchewan.ca/covid19-vaccine and select ‘Book or change my appointment.’ You can cancel online even if you booked over the phone. You can also call 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829) if you are unable to complete your request online.
Until most Saskatchewan residents are protected by the vaccine, the public must continue following all public health orders and guidelines. COVID-19 is everywhere in Saskatchewan.
It is the responsibility of every person to strictly adhere to all public health orders and measures, including:
* Keep 2 metres away from others when in public and wear a mask;
* Limit gatherings and ensure gathering sizes do not exceed public health orders;
* Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
* Do not touch your eyes, nose, mouth or mask with unwashed hands;
* Stay home if you are unwell; seek health care services when you help;
* Regularly monitor your health for any COVID-19 symptoms and seek testing.
