Saskatchewan residents 65 years of age and older are now eligible to book their COVID-19 vaccinations online and over the phone, according to the Government of Saskatchewan official website.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) lowered the age of eligibility from 67 to 65 years on Wednesday, March 24.

Residents 50 to 69 years of age in the far north administrative region are eligible to book vaccinations by phone only.

People can make an appointment online 24/7 using their health card here or by calling 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m.

People with underlying health conditions who are clinically extremely vulnerable have been identified by their health-care team and will receive a letter of eligibility in the mail in the next two weeks. The letter is required in order to book an appointment.

Members of that group can’t book online unless they’re 65 or older and have not yet booked an appointment. They can call for an appointment.

As well, the SHA is connecting with group homes for persons with intellectual disabilities, shelters and other congregate living facilities to discuss options for immunization.

The SHA said it is currently not booking second dose appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine. Provincial health officials are urging residents who have received one dose to keep their vaccine card and watch for further updates about second dose appointments.
