The following is the occurrence summary for February 20 – March 1.
On February 20 at 10:30 p.m. the Corman Park Police observed a grey Dodge Charger northbound on Highway 12 near Township Road 382, south of Martensville. The vehicle was travelling at a very high rate of speed. Police activated radar and captured a reading on the vehicle of 185 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. Police caught up to the speeding vehicle and pulled it over. The lone occupant, a 23-year-old male resident of Saskatoon, advised that he was just trying to see how fast his car could go. Police impounded the vehicle for seven days for travelling at a speed greater than 50 km/h over the speed limit. The driver was issued a speeding ticket with a voluntary fine option of $1078.
On February 24 at 8:36 p.m. police received a call about a possible impaired driver northbound on Highway 11 near Dundurn. The vehicle was described to police as an orange, Chev Cobalt. The caller advised that the vehicle was swerving on the highway and travelling at speeds up to 140 km/h. The caller later advised that the vehicle had hit the center median and had become stuck at Highway 11 south of Grasswood Road in Corman Park. Corman Park Police attended and located the vehicle, an orange Pontiac G5, and observed a lone female occupant in the driver’s seat. The woman got out of the car when police arrived and she walked towards the police car. An officer spoke with the woman, who demonstrated slurred speech, unsteady balance and red-rimmed, glossy eyes. The woman, a 23-year-old Regina resident, had left the door to her car open and police could see an open wine bottle and a beer can behind the driver’s seat on the floor. The woman advised police that she did not have a valid licence. The woman was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where she provided breath samples at 220 and 210 mgs%, almost triple the legal limit. The woman was held in custody and later released to a sober friend. She was charged with impaired driving and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol level that exceeded the legal limit. Her vehicle was impounded.
On February 26 at 10:16 p.m., police received a call advising that a vehicle was stuck in the ditch on Township Road 383 near Range Road 3044, south of the City of Warman. Corman Park Police attended the area and located a grey GMC Sierra that was stuck in the snow with the engine running. Upon police arrival a man exited the vehicle from the driver’s seat and spoke with police. The man displayed symptoms of impairment from alcohol consumption including the smell of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, poor balance and glossy eyes. The man, a 49-year-old resident of the Warman area, was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided two breath samples with readings of 120 mgs%, one and a half times the legal limit. The man was held in custody for a short while and later released on charges of operating a conveyance while impaired and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol level that exceeded the legal limit. The man’s licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.
On February 27 at 12:37 a.m. Corman Park Police observed a black Ford F-150 speeding on Highway 41 near Range Road 3043 in an eastbound direction. Police obtained a radar reading of 126 km/h in the 100 km/h zone. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 26-year-old male resident of the Bruno area. The man admitted to consuming four drinks prior to driving and was read a breath demand by police. The man provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device which gave a result of FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of 150 and 140 mgs%. The man’s licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded and he was released on charges of impaired driving and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol in excess of the legal limit.
