The following is the occurrence summary for February 1-8.
On February 4 at 12:35 a.m. Corman Park Police observed a black Ford F-150 truck operating erratically on Highway 16 near 71st Street, northwest of Saskatoon. The vehicle was stopped by police and the driver was identified as a 29-year-old male resident of MacGregor, Manitoba. The man admitted to police that he had consumed cannabis and alcohol prior to driving. The driver was given a breath demand by police and he supplied a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device which registered a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested and police conducted a search of his vehicle locating both open alcohol and cannabis. The man was then taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided two samples of breath analysed at 80 mgs%, the legal limit. Since December of 2018 the law in Canada now defines a subject as being in violation of the law when their blood alcohol concentration is equal to or greater than 80 mgs%. The man was later released on charges of impaired driving, having open alcohol in a vehicle and unlawfully possessing cannabis in a vehicle. His licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded.
On February 5 at 2:30 a.m. Corman Park Police were called to a single vehicle rollover collision on Range Road 3062 south of Dalmeny. Police attended and located a black Ford Eagle in the ditch on its roof. Numerous containers of alcoholic beverages were observed inside the vehicle. Police were introduced to the driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old female resident of Prince Albert, who was being attended to by first responders.The driver admitted to consuming four alcoholic drinks prior to driving and then hitting a patch of ice on the highway and losing control of her vehicle. The woman displayed numerous signs of impairment from alcohol consumption and was arrested for impaired driving. She was taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where she provided breath samples of 100 and 90 mgs%, in excess of the legal limit. The driver was held in custody for a short while and later released on charges of impaired driving, unlawful possession of alcohol in a vehicle and a learner driver driving unaccompanied. The driver was uninjured in the collision.
On February 5 at 10:41 a.m. Corman Park Police were made aware of a call of a possible impaired driver on Highway 14 west of Saskatoon. The vehicle was described as a blue Chevrolet Cobalt. At 10:56 a.m. a Corman Park Police Officer observed a vehicle matching the description on Highway 14 at Range Road 3070 in the RM of Corman Park. RM of Vanscoy Police attended and assisted. A 37-year-old male resident of Red Deer, Alberta was identified as the driver. There were open alcohol containers visible to police. The driver advised that he had not been drinking. The man was read a mandatory breath demand by police and when he exited his vehicle to go to the police car he was observed dropping a glass pipe on to the pavement and stomping on it with his foot. Police arrested the man and were able to seize a broken meth pipe. The man then told police that there was GHB, commonly known as the “date rape” drug, in the vehicle. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located three bottles with a clear liquid that is believed to be GHB. They also located a bag containing numerous individual bags of a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. Cash, weigh scales, a baton and other items were seized. Police have determined the street value of the drugs to be between $7-10,000. The subject was taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he was turned over to RCMP to be processed on drug trafficking and weapons charges. He was held in custody to face a bail hearing.
On February 7 at 3:15 a.m. Corman Park Police observed a 1987 Toyota Corolla with Alberta licence plates driving unusually slow on Highway 16 near Range Road 3050, east of Saskatoon. The vehicle was noted to be having difficulty keeping its lane. Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified a 46-year-old man as the driver and a 26-year-old man as the passenger, both residents of the Edmonton area. There was Cannabis in plain view and police conducted a search of the vehicle and located cocaine, crystal meth, magic mushrooms and pills believed to be opiates. Both men were arrested for possession of controlled substances. The amounts were deemed to be for personal use and the men were each released on appearance notices on charges of possession of controlled substances. They were also served tickets for unlawful possession of cannabis in a vehicle.
