With rivers and lakes across the province freezing, Saskatchewan’s ferries are dry docked for the season.
The Riverhurst Ferry was the last ferry running and shut down on December 14. The Clarkboro Ferry, Hague Ferry, Winguard Ferry and St. Laurent Ferries closed in late October and early November.
The Government of Saskatchewan operates 12 ferries and one barge across the province. Saskatchewan’s ferries typically run from April to November, but operations and scheduling depend on weather and freezing.
The provincial Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is reminding the public that activity on ice has risk, and to check ice thickness before walking or driving on it. Be sure to check the Highway Hotline for road conditions and ferry closures before you travel.
