The following is the occurrence summary for December 7 – 14.
On December 9 at 4:50 a.m., Corman Park Police received a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch at Penner Road in the RM of Corman Park. Police attended and located a blue GMC Terrain. There was a female seated behind the wheel who was the only occupant of the vehicle. The woman advised police that she was just trying to get home when she slid off the roadway in the icy conditions. The woman advised she had been drinking before she drove and police observed that she was demonstrating slurred speech and the strong odour of beverage alcohol was on her breath. The woman was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where she provided breath samples of 140 and 150 mg%, almost twice the legal limit. The woman’s driver’s licence was suspended, her vehicle was impounded and she was released later on charges of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.
On December 9 at 9:40 a.m., Corman Park Police received a call from a property owner who resides southeast of Saskatoon in the RM of Corman Park. They advised that they had lost a 10-month-old St. Bernard dog about five days prior and were unable to find it despite repeated searches in the area. On December 10 at 1:45 p.m. police received a call from a resident who lives on Melness Road, in the same area, advising that they had apprehended a St. Bernard dog in the vicinity of their horses on their property. Police advised the complainant of a previous report of a missing dog that matched the description and the two parties were put in touch with one another to arrange for a return of the dog. The dog’s owner was cautioned by police that any further violations of the RM Dogs at Large bylaw may result in a charge against them.
On December 9 at 5:55 p.m., Corman Park Police observed a grey, Chev Silverado truck, westbound on Highway 16 near Highway 672. The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed past an emergency vehicle that was stopped at the side of the road with lights flashing. Police stopped the vehicle, which was plated in Ontario. There was a male driver and a female passenger who identified themselves as being from Thunder Bay, Ontario. Investigation revealed that the registration on the truck had expired and that the driver was on release conditions from Ontario not to have any contact with the passenger. The driver was arrested by police for breaching his release conditions. The truck was impounded and the woman was taken to a shelter by police. The man was later released on charges of violating a release order, operating an unregistered vehicle and speeding.
On December 10 at 6:40 a.m., Corman Park Police attended in the vicinity of Range Road 3063 and Township Road 373 in response to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. Police located a grey Chevrolet Equinox in the area with a male and female occupant. The vehicle was on the side of the road and both occupants were found to be asleep. Police woke the subjects up and asked them questions regarding their presence at this location. The driver was also asked to present a driver’s licence and registration for the vehicle. The driver was unable to provide a driver’s licence but verbally identified himself to police. The man opened the center console of the vehicle to retrieve a copy of the vehicle registration, and when he did, police observed several needles and a pipe for smoking drugs. Police had the subjects exit the vehicle so that a search could be conducted. A small bag with a white, powder substance was seized and was tested to be MDMA, a controlled substance. Police arrested both subjects for possession of a controlled substance. During the arrest, the female subject resisted arrest attempts. It was later revealed that the man had provided police with a false name. The pair were taken to the Saskatoon Detachment of the RCMP where they were held in custody for a short while and then subsequently released on charges of possession of a controlled substance, obstructing a police officer on the man for lying about his name, and resisting arrest on the female subject.
