The following is the occurrence summary for November 23-30.
On November 24 at 8:50 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a red pick-up truck northbound on Highway 11 near Osler. The truck appeared to have difficulty maintaining its lane and was swerving mildly. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 46-year-old male resident of Neuanlage. The man’s breath had the odour of an alcoholic beverage and he was read a breath demand by police. The man provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which gave a reading of WARN. Because this was the second time that this driver had blown a WARN in the past 10 years his licence was suspended for 21 days pursuant to Provincial legislation.
On November 27 at 11:45 a.m. Corman Park Police observed a tractor trailer unit northbound on Clarence Avenue, north of Grasswood Road in a posted 10 tonne area. Police stopped the truck, which had Manitoba licence plates, and spoke with the driver, who advised he was hauling a load into Saskatoon and following his phone’s GPS app. The man was advised by police that the road was rated for a 10 tonne maximum and was directed to follow police to a nearby weigh scale. The truck was weighed at over 16 tonnes. The driver was issued a summons under the Corman Park traffic bylaw for exceeding the road’s weight limit. The fine on the ticket is $2025.
On November 28 at 9:20 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a blue Chev Cruze stuck in the ditch on Township Road 372 near Range Road 3061. The vehicle was running and the driver was in the driver’s seat. Police spoke with the man at which time he admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving. The man was given a breath demand and provided a sample of breath which resulted in a reading of FAIL on a roadside screening device. The man, a 27-year-old resident of Saskatoon, was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided two breath samples of 130 mg%. The man was later released from custody on charges of impaired driving, and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol equal to or greater than 80 mg%.
On November 29 at 11:15 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue driving northbound on Clarence Avenue near Grasswood Road. Police observed an occupant throw a burning substance from the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped by police and it was observed that there were three occupants in the vehicle, two men and a woman. An 18-year-old female was identified as the driver and investigation revealed that she was operating the vehicle on a learner’s licence without a licenced driver as a passenger. Police observed a marihuana grinder and some dried marihuana on the rear seat. A search was conducted and police located 76 grams of dried cannabis, a weigh scale and numerous small baggies. One youth, 17 years of age, admitted ownership of the cannabis and was issued a summons for keeping cannabis for sale or distribution. The other male, also 17 years of age, was at large on a curfew from other criminal charges and was charged for breaching the curfew. The female driver was issued a ticket for driving without the appropriate licence.
