Darrell Reddekopp is seeking election to the RM of Corman Park Council as the representative for Division 7.
He and his wife have farmed near Dalmeny for over 40 years. In addition to operating their grain farm, they also have a small business in Dalmeny.
They have a son and daughter and two grandchildren.
Reddekopp has been a member of the council and building committee of the Bible Church in Langham, and was chair of the school board in Langham for a number of years.
He served on the Canadian Turkey Marketing Agency for ten years and was also a delegate to the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.
Reddekopp believes his experience working in agriculture and business, and serving on elected boards, has given him a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the RM of Corman Park. He said one of his goals is to work toward reducing burdensome ‘red tape’ where appropriate.
“I’m hoping that I can bring some good perspectives and experience to the RM council table,” said Reddekopp.
“I believe it’s critical for elected councillors to have input from local people on issues that are important to them.
“I am a strong believer in having accountable local governments with elected members that serve their constituents.”
Reddekopp said if elected, he would do his best to represent all residents of the RM.
