Afrah Ali is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant

Saskatoon Police are requesting public assistance in locating a man believed to be responsible for the city’s most recent homicide investigation.

As a result of the investigation to date Afrah ALI, (DOB 1988/05/08) is now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second degree murder. Investigators believe he may be in the Saskatoon area, but is known to have associations to Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa.

Afrah Ali is described as 189 cm (6’3″)  tall and weighs 116 kg (256 lbs). He is believed to armed and should not be approached . Anyone with information is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.

Ali is wanted in connection with the August 21st, 2020 shooting and murder of 30-year-old Logan Nayneecassum at restaurant / pub located in the 200 block of Slimmon Road, Saskatoon.

Saskatoon residents who may have information regarding the whereabouts of Afrah ALI or this homicide are asked to call the Saskatoon Police at 306-975-8300 and ask to speak with an investigator in Major Crime or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On August 21, 2020, at approximately 3:00 a.m. Police were called to a restaurant / pub in the 200 block of Slimmon Road for a report of an injured male. First responders on arrival to the business located an injured male suffering from a gunshot wound. The injured male was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Yesterday an autopsy was performed on the 30 year old male victim confirming that the cause of death was the result of a gunshot wound. His name is not being released at this time at the request of his family.

Investigators with the Major Crime and Forensic Identification Sections have been actively investigating this homicide and have determined that on Friday morning at approximately 3:00 a.m. the establishment began preparing to close for the evening. As people began to leave the restaurant / pub a dispute between numerous patrons resulted in an altercation where the the 30-year-old male was fatally shot. Investigators with the Major Crime Section have spoken to numerous persons who were in attendance at the restaurant / pub at the time of the incident  but it is clear that at the time of the shooting numerous people fled the scene and as a result have not been spoken to by police.
