A total of 4.4 kilometers of residential roadways within the hamlet of Riverside Estates in the RM of Corman Park will be upgraded and paved this year.
The $1.3 million cost will be paid for by residents of the hamlet. Financing is being provided to the hamlet board by the RM of Corman Park through a loan amortized over 10 years at 1.8% interest. Annual payments to the RM are expected to be about $110,000.
Corman Park council voted in favour of providing the loan to the hamlet at a video-conference meeting on Monday, July 13.
The contract for the upgrade and paving of the roadways was awarded at that meeting to D. Jorgenson Holding Ltd (Northern Blacktop), which submitted the lowest bid in a competitive tender process that saw seven companies vying for the job.
The total cost of the project is $1,332,118.11 which includes design engineering, construction engineering and paving. The construction engineering phase is expected to take about 45 days.
The roads receiving upgrades include: Poplar Road, Pony Trail,, Cherry Lane, Roseberry Heights, Country Lane and Wildwood Drive.
The hamlet board first proposed the road reconstruction project to the RM of Corman Park council in April, 2019.
