Patrick Strong of Saskatoon has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, after being involved in rollover of a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle on a rural property, on July 4.
Officers from the Wakaw RCMP Detachment responded to the scene at approximately 10:50 p.m. Three occupants were riding in the vehicle when the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle. None of the occupants were wearing a helmet.
A 51-year-old male passenger was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS. The 57-year-old female passenger did not sustain any injury. The driver, a 48-year-old male, also did not sustain any injury.
Strong refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested on scene. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on August 11, 2020.
Wakaw RCMP received assistance in the investigation from the Prince Albert RCMP Detachment, Prince Albert Traffic Services, Wakaw EMS, Wakaw/Hoodoo Fire and Rescue, an RCMP Reconstructionist and Gateway Regional Victim Services.
