This is the Corman Park Police Service occurrence summary for June 22-29.

On June 25 at 10:50 a.m., Corman Park Police observed a black Ford Explorer operating at a high rate of speed on Highway 16 at Township Road 382. Police used radar to determine the vehicle was travelling at 144 km/h in a posted 110 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped at which time police noticed the driver attempting to switch seats with a passenger in the front seat. The driver, a 21-year-old male resident of Saskatoon, was determined to be at large on an outstanding arrest warrant for driving while suspended. He was also determined to be a suspended driver as he was charged with an impaired driving offence in January which had not been disposed of in court. The driver was arrested on the warrant and later released on a new court date. He was also charged for driving while suspended and speeding and his vehicle was impounded. The car’s occupants were all picked up by a family member.

On June 26 at 4:10 p.m., Corman Park Police observed a white Mercedes Benz C300 southbound on Idylwyld Drive at the Sid Buckwold Bridge at 122 km/h in a posted 70 km/h zone. Police stopped the vehicle and issued the driver, a 30- year-old male resident of Saskatoon, a speeding ticket. In conversation with police the man admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and that he was on his way home from a golf game. The man was read a breath demand and he provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which resulted in a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance and taken to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where he provided two breath samples each at 90 mgs%. The man was later released on charges of impaired driving. His licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded.

On June 27 at 8:50 p.m., Corman Park Police were conducting a Checkstop on Beam Road at Range Road 3061 when a Ford F-150 pickup pulled into the stop. A 35-year-old male resident of St. Walburg, Saskatchewan, was identified as the driver. The man, who had just come from an outdoor concert, advised that he had not consumed any alcohol. Police read the man a mandatory breath demand and the man provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a WARN. The man’s driver’s licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded for three days. He was also issued a summons for making a false statement to the police regarding his alcohol consumption.

On June 28 at 11:50 a.m., Corman Park Police observed a brown, 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis, driving westbound on Merrill School Rd approaching Highway 60. The vehicle did not come to a complete stop at the stop sign. Police stopped the vehicle, which was being driven by a 44-year-old male resident of Saskatoon. Investigation revealed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for driving while suspended. Police arrested the man on the strength of the warrant at which time the man reached under the driver’s seat and produced a knife. Police convinced the man to drop the knife and he was then taken into custody. The suspect was then placed in handcuffs and while searching him a meth pipe was found in the man’s pants pocket. While searching the vehicle police found a small baseball bat, two knives, two bags of crystal meth, a set of scales and several meth pipes. The man was taken into custody and later released on charges of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace and possession of a controlled substance.

On June 28 at 8:37 p.m., Corman Park Police observed a northbound Chev pick-up on Clarence Avenue south of Cartwright Street. The vehicle was observed to be swerving and was stopped by police. The male driver, a 52-year-old resident of Thode, Saskatchewan, was read a mandatory breath demand and provided a sample into a roadside screening device, which resulted in a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Saskatoon Police Headquarters to provide samples of his breath. While at the SPS HQ the man refused to provide breath samples. He was lodged into cells until sober and released on charges of impaired driving and refusing a breath demand.
