The Town of Dalmeny has recently launched a campaign that encourages its residents to shop local, while earning a chance to win prizes.
“The Stay Local Campaign encourages residents to keep connected to our community and invest their dollars in the future of Dalmeny by shopping locally,” said Town of Dalmeny Mayor Jon Kroeker.
“We have chosen to live in this community and it’s our responsibility to support these businesses that contribute to our local vibrancy.”
The campaign officially launched last month and it will feature a contest prize bundle, with each prize donated by local businesses valued at $850 plus.
Residents can participate by submitting proof of purchase from any licensed Dalmeny business to townoffice@dalmeny.ca, or in person once the office is open again.
People can also enter via social media by posting a picture of themselves or their family enjoying a town amenity, or supporting a local business or organization and tagging it with #staylocaldalmeny.
“Dalmeny offers a diverse range of businesses, services, and independent artisans that contribute to the overall well-being of our community,” said Dalmeny town councillor Christa Ann Willems.
“Simply put, shopping local has a massive multiplier effect on our local economy that results in many positive spin-offs.”
The entry deadline for the first prize package of the Stay Local Campaign give-away will be midnight, September 30, 2020.
“Residents of Dalmeny can feel proud that we live in an area that supports entrepreneurship and that we collectively foster a community that celebrates the success of small business,” said Dalmeny Chief Administrative Officer Jim Weninger.
“Boosting local spending opens the door for new opportunities for business and contributes to long-term community investment.”
When asked why he chose to be a part of the Stay Local Campaign, King’s Forest Construction owner Darren Nickel said that the company is invested in the town of Dalmeny.
“We plan to stay local here for a long time, it is where we are putting down roots,” he said.
“Anything that helps foster a tighter, brighter, flourishing community is a no brainer for us. We count it a blessing to be involved.”
Nickel also believes entrepreneurship is one of the most important pillars of a community.
“Local businesses with their own unique perspective is what drives a community to become something special. The more we can encourage these unique businesses, the more our town and the people in it will prosper,” he said.
