While officers from the Kindersley RCMP Detachment were at a residence in Kindersley, on April 24, to check on an individual who was recently released from custody, a large aggressive dog broke free from an occupant inside the residence and ran through the open door, charging at the officers as they attempted to retreat.

Both officers drew their pistols as they retreated and to avoid being attacked by the dog, one of the officers fired a single round from his service pistol, which struck the dog and stopped its charge toward the officers.

The dog was later euthanized by animal control officers.

This incident is still under investigation and will include an Independent RCMP Officer review.
