A 29-year-old Biggar, Saskatchewan man is facing a number of charges following an incident in which a vehicle was recorded travelling 133 kms/hr in a 50 km zone on 8th Street East in Saskatoon on Tuesday, April 21.
A Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) Patrol Officer on duty in the area witnessed the half ton truck travelling at a high rate of speed at approximately 11:30 p.m., April 21, 2020.
A traffic stop was attempted 8th Street and Louise Avenue. However, the driver refused to stop.
Members of the SPS Air Support Unit were able to assist from above and officers utilized a tire deflation device at 20th Street and Idylwyld Drive.
The vehicle continued to travel and a second tire deflation device was used at Avenue C and 22nd Street.
The vehicle continued to be driven with no tires until it came to a stop at Avenue P.
The 29-year-old driver was found to be under the influence of drugs and was arrested. He is now facing charges of Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving, Evade Police and Breach of Conditions.
