Beginning Tuesday, October 6, Saskatchewan residents can start booking appointments to receive this year’s influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations. Immunization against respiratory illness is a safe and effective way to help stay healthy, prevent illness and save lives.

“As we head into the fall season, getting immunized is a simple step we can all take to protect ourselves and the people around us,” Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill said. “I encourage all residents who are eligible to consider making immunization part of their preparations for this upcoming flu season.”

Seniors, people with chronic health conditions or compromised immune systems, children under the age of five and pregnant women are among those considered most at risk of contracting a respiratory illness. High-risk groups are encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations are free of charge to all individuals aged 6 months and older. Vaccinations are available at public health clinics, participating pharmacies and some physician and nurse practitioner offices.

Children aged six months up to five years can only be immunized at a Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) public health clinic, public health office or by a physician or nurse practitioner.

“Getting immunized early this fall is one of the best ways to protect yourself and the people you care about,” SHA Senior Medical Health Officer Dr. Julie Kryzanowski said.  “We encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible to help reduce the spread of Influenza and COVID-19 and keep our communities healthy.”

Residents will have the convenience to book and receive both their influenza and COVID-19 vaccines either in a single appointment or separately. You may choose to receive one or both vaccines.

Residents can locate a walk-in clinic or book immunizations for themselves or the entire family in one appointment through the SHA’s online booking tool available at www.4flu.ca at any time or by calling 1-833-727-5829 Monday to Friday during regular business hours. If you have a preferred pharmacy, please contact them to ensure they are offering COVID-19 vaccinations.
