One of the drivers in a two-vehicle collision that occured near Hepburn on Saturday, September 12 and left one 16-year-old female dead has been charged by police.
According to a news release, the Rosthern RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 12, north of the intersection with Highway 312, at approximately 10:10 p.m. that evening.
An investigation determined a truck and a SUV collided. The driver of the SUV, a 16-year-old female from Shellbrook, was declared deceased at the scene by EMS. Her family has been notified.
A passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
In addition, the driver and sole occupant of the truck was also taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. He was also arrested by Rosthern RCMP, who continue to investigate the incident with the help of a collision reconstructionist.
Riley Farthing, 22, of Blaine Lake is charged with one count of impaired operation of a vehicle causing death under Section 320.14 (3) of the Criminal Code.
Farthing appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on September 14.
