The Langham Vikings earned a silver medal at the U11 Open Boys provincial fastball championship tournament in Saskatoon July 4 and 5.

The Vikings went up against the Parkland Wildcats in a hard-fought, best-of-five series over the two-day event. Three games were played on Saturday and two on Sunday.

Despite losing their first game by a score of 10-9, the Vikings held the edge at the end of the first day of competition after rebounding with two straight victories by scores of 12-6 and 9-8.

However, the Wildcats came out on top in both Sunday games by scores of 10-5 and 6-5 to capture the gold medal.

The Vikings players are  Weston Schwark, Chase Neher, Nicolas Reschny, Carson Cassidy, Nixon Katzer, Dallon Neher, Emmett Penner, Nash Laing, Merrik Dalshaug, Logan Wagner, Heston Parry and Lukas Creary. Team coaches include Gus Katzer, Ryan Heher, Jordan Laign, Troy Parry and team manager anager Meghan Heatherley.

TCA U19B WIN SILVER

The Twin City Angels (TCA) U19B team won the provincial silver medal in Unity last weekend, after being edged 3-1 by the Macklin Lakers in the championship final.

The Angels finished first in the five-team round-robin, beating the Moose Jaw Ice 10-3 and the Unity Panthers 15-7 on Friday, July 3.

The Angels went on to down the Macklin Lakers 5-3 and Regina Riot 6-2 on Saturday to earn a berth in the gold medal game.

TCA U17A WIN BRONZE

The Twin City Angels U17B squad, meanwhile, won the provincial bronze medal at an 11-team tournament in Saskaatoon July 3-5.

The Angels earned a spot in the championship round after cruising to decisive wins over the Saskatoon Selects (9-6), Regina Royals (11-1) on Friday, July 3; and the White Butte Storm (9-1) and South East Sun Devils (12-5) on Saturday, July 4. The Angels were edged 4-3 by the Regina Saints on Sunday, July 5. The Angels beat the White Butte Storm 4-0 in the bronze medal final later that afternoon.

WARMAN HOSTS U11B GIRLS PROVINCIALS

Warman Oasis Park was the host site for the U11B North Girls provincial championship July 3-5.

The tournament featured 32 teams from across the northern part of Saskatchewan, including the Twin City Angels Heats, Twin City Angels Crushers, Twin City Angels Blackouts and Langham Vikings.

The Watrous Royals won the gold medal with a 14-0 win over the Saskatoon Phantoms; while the Wynyard Blues captured the bronze medal with a 7-0 victory over the Unity Panthers.

TCA TEAMS IN PROVINCIALS

Several other Twin City Angels teams competed in provincial competitions July 3-5.

The TCA U11A team took part in the seven-team provincial championship  tournament in Saskatoon. They lost their first game 12-10 to the Saskatoon Hustlers, and dropped a 6-0 decision to the Saskatoon Raiders Rebels, but rebounded with a 3-2 victory over the Saskatoon Lasers and a 3-2 win over the Saskatoon Phantoms in the round robin; but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the championship round. The Saskatoon Raiders Rebels won gold, Saskatoon Phantoms took silver and Saskatoon Lasers won bronze.

The TCA U15A team competed in a 14-team competition in Prince Albert July 3-5. The Angels lost 3-1 to the Regina Saints and 7-0 to the Saskatoon Selects Impact, but beat the Lumsden Cubs 8-2 before being edged 4-3 by the White Butte Storm in round-robin play. The Saskatoon Selects Surge won gold, the East Central Wolverines won silver and the Saskatoon Selects Impact captured bronze.

The U15C Twin City Angels Bombers and Twin City Angels Whiteout competed in a North Provincial tournament in Unity July 3-5. The TCA Whiteout lost 18-0 to the Macklin Lakers and 15-3 to the Tisdale Riverdogs, but downed the Saskatoon Phantoms Blaze 15-9 before losing 20-1 to the Parkland Predators  in round robin play. The TCA Bombers, meanwhile, lost 15-2 to the Davidson Red Sox, but beat the Kindersley Royals 12-7 before losing 17-2 to the Unity Panthers and 12-4 to the Saskatoon Hustlers Hawks in round-robin play. The Macklin Lakers won gold, the Unity Panthers won silver and the Davidson Red Sox captured bronze.

UPCOMING PROVINCIALS

Three TCA teams, the TCA Purple Cobras, the TCA White Lightning, and the TCA Black, are slated to compete in the U13C North Provincials July 10-12 in Macklin.

The TCA Elite will compete in the U13B Girls North Provincials July 10-12 in Saskatoon.

The Delisle Dynamite, TCA Angels Riot and TCA Velocity are competing in the U15B Girls North Provincials in Saksatoon July 10-12.

The Twin City Angels and the Rosthern Valley Vipers  will both be going for gold at the U17B Girls Provincials in Swift Current July 17-19.

The Twin City Angels will compete in the U17C Girls Provincials in Regina July 17-19.

The Valley Vikings are competing in the U20 Open Men’s Provincial Championship in Prince Albert July 10-12.

The Delisle Pride are entered in the U23 Men’s Provincial fastball championship in Saskatoon July 17-19.

The Laird Valley Bluejays are competing in the U17 Open Boys Provincials in Prince Albert July 10-12.

The Langham Vikings are competing in the U13 Open Boys Provincials in Shell Lake July 10-12.
