On May 29, 2026, the City of Warman will officially welcome six direct descendants

of its namesake, Cy Warman (1855–1914), for a historic family reunion and civic commemoration. Mayor Gary Philipchuk will issue a formal proclamation declaring the date “Cy Warman Heritage Day”

in the community.

The visiting family members traveling from the United States include:

• Christine Warman (widow of Cy’s grandson Donald Warman)

• Amy Warman Eaton and Philip Warman (Cy’s great-grandchildren)

• Scott Warman and Kirsten Warman Powers (Cy’s great-grandchildren)

• Trey Warman (Cy’s great-grandson via the line of Bryan Warman Sr.)

A Return to the “Diamond” Roots

The day will begin at 10:00 AM at Warman City Hall with a formal Mayoral welcome and reading of the heritage proclamation.  Following a guided driving tour of local landmarks, the Mayor and the Warman History Book Committee will host the family for lunch at the Warman Senior Drop-In Centre—which was the city’s original 1907 Canadian Northern Railway station.

“We are incredibly honoured to welcome the Warman family back to their ancestral home,” said Mayor Gary Philipchuk.  “The legacy of Cy Warman is woven into the tracks, the archives and the very name of our community.  This visit bridges our origins with our vibrant present.”

About Cy Warman

Cy Warman was an American engineer, journalist and author who was known as the “Poet of the Rockies.”  His reports on the construction of the Canadian Northern Railway in the early 1900s led to

the renaming of the local “Diamond” junction in his honour in 1905.
