The Town of Dalmeny has named long-time resident and former Mayor Lorne Bitner as its Citizen of the Year. The community will be honouring Lorne with the award during its upcoming Dalmeny Days celebration this summer. Lorne was the pharmacist/owner of Dalmeny Drugs from 1978 – 2024. Lorne was a member of the Dalmeny Fire Department in the 1980s. He was an elected Town Councilor and served as Mayor of Dalmeny from 1988 – 1995. Lorne has been a sponsor, or made donations to, many local events, and was a long-time sponsor of the Twin Rivers Music Festival. He even played hockey for the Dalmeny Dragons for decades! The Town of Dalmeny is excited to recognize Lorne for his amazing dedication to his home community over many years.
