The Martensville Chiefs had a great run during their first season after relocating last fall from Delisle.

But the Chiefs’ quest for the Prairie Junior Hockey League (PJHL) championship came to an unfortunate end last week at the hands of the Saskatoon Quakers.

The Quakers won the seventh and deciding game in the PJHL’s north division semi-final series with a narrow 4-3 win on Thursday, March 12 in Martensville.

The Quakers now take on the Saskatoon Westleys in the north division finals. The winner of that series plays the south division winner for the league crown.

The Martensville Chiefs played to large crowds at the Martensville Sports Centre over the course of the winter, and finished second in the PJHL North Division standings at the end of the regular season with a record of 30 wins, 10 losses and two overtime losses. The team is looking forward to another successful year in 2026-27.
