Several area teams are still in the hunt for provincial championship titles as playoff races come down to the wire.
The Hague Royals lost their opening contest against the Macklin Mohawks in the Senior D provincial best-of-three semi-final series on Saturday, March 7. The Royals are looking to rebound on Saturday, March 14 when they host the Mohawks at the Hague arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Game 3, if necessary, is back in Macklin on Sunday, March 15. The winner of the series will play either Milestone or Cupar in the provincial championship final.
The Martensville Villains are one game up on the Meadow Lake Stampeders in their semi-final series in the U18A provincial playoffs. The Villains won 6-4 at home on March 7, and will face the Stampeders in Meadow Lake on March 14. If Meadow Lake wins that game, a third mini-game following Game 2 will decide the winner.
The Warman WIldcats are headed to the provincial Male U15A championship series next week after defeating the Martensville Villains in two straight games by scores of 5-2 on March 1 and 7-1 on March 8. The Wildcats will now face the Prairie Storm in the championship series.
In the Male U13A division, the Warman Wildcats downed arch-rivals Martensville Marauders in a nail-biter series that went to three games on Monday, March 9. Warman now advances to the provincial championship final series against either the Swift Current Broncos or Prairie Storm.
