Brian Lauscher of Bubo Tree Service gives some tips for planting trees, such as the benefits of adding mulch around the bottom of the tree and why it can be important to have a certain side of the tree facing north, during a tree planting workshop hosted by the Town of Dalmeny on Tuesday, September 22. Around a dozen residents and town staff were in attendance at this workshop, which was held near the town office. It was paid for using a Parks for All Action Grant from the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA), which itself is funded by Saskatchewan Lotteries. After the presentation by Lauscher, the residents and staff got busy planting about two dozen large and small trees. Lacy Boisvert, Recreation Manager for the Town of Dalmeny, indicated they hope to use those trees in a future tree lighting ceremony once (and if) they take root.

Brian and Lacie dig a little deeper to enlarge the well for one of the larger trees while workshop attendees look on in the background.
