Construction activity in Warman over the first six months of 2026 is virtually on par with the same period last year, according to statistics from the city’s planning and development department.

A city administration report to the Warman City Council committee of the whole meeting on Monday, July 13 noted there have been 187 building permits issued between January 1 and July 7 of this year.

This compares to 184 during the same six-month time frame in 2025.

While the number of permits is slightly higher, the total value of those permits has declined. So far in 2026, the overall dollar value of building permits is $42,659,093. During the same period in 2025, total building permit values was $45,943,213.

The biggest bright spot was an increase in both the number of commercial building permits and the value of construction so far in 2026 over last year. This year there have been 21 permits issued totalling $13,833,393. Over the first six months of 2025, there were 17 commercial building permits issued worth a combined value of $12,726,399.

The number of residential building permits, meanwhile, dropped to 62 this year from 74 last year, with a corresponding decline in cumulative value to $25,400,400 in 2026 compared to $29,635,100 in the first half of 2025.

So far this year, the number of permits issued for garages, additions, decks and other renovations is up (104 compared to 93 in the first six months of 2025), but the overall value is slightly less ($3,425,300 compared with $3,581,714 last year).

Martensville’s construction sector is showing positive signs as well, despite a drop from last year’s record-breaking pace when the value of building permits for the full 12-month calendar year topped $70.3 million.

Over the first six months of 2026, the City of Martensville has issued 88 building permits worth a combined value of $17,388,828, according to statistics posted on the city’s website.

Of these, 18 permits have been for single-family residential homes, 9 were for multi-family units, 15 were for commercial and industrial buildings, and 46 were for decks, garages, additions and other renovations.
