The RM of Corman Park is set to hold its next ratepayer meeting in Saskatoon at an unspecified date in 2027.
Councillors passed a motion during their June 23 meeting giving the go-ahead to the 2027 ratepayers meeting, which will be subsequently held every two years at rotating locations throughout the RM.
Council had originally directed administration in January 2025 to organize a ratepayers meeting, the first to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic.
That meeting was ultimately hosted at the Northridge Centennial Community Centre in Martensville on November 19, 2025. The public was able to attend this meeting either in-person or virtually.
To determine what to do next, administration polled council from March 5 to April 30, 2026. Based on the results of that poll, it was agreed that future meetings should be held every two years at various locations in the RM.
In addition to providing ratepayers with a predictable schedule, this approach also avoids having the ratepayer meeting coincide with election years.
Division 1 Councillor John Germs said he supported this recommendation but wondered if residents could petition council to hold a public meeting if a particularly contentious issue arose within the RM.
Chief Administrative Officer Kerry Hilts noted that it is possible, but the petitioning requirements are difficult to meet. However, council can host a ratepayer meeting at any time by passing a motion.
