The Warman Central Valley Volleyball Club (CVVC) Aces earned a bronze medal in the 18U Women’s Division 3 provincial championship tournament last weekend at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex.

The Aces beat Regina’s  Queen City Volleyball Club (QCVC) Purple in three sets by scores of 25-23, 17-25 and 15-7 to win third place in the hotly-contested 13-team competition.

The Plenty Rush, meanwhile, captured the 18U Women’s Division 3 gold medal, downing the silver-medal winning Medstead Northwest Wild in the championship final in two straight sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-14.

The 18U Women’s Division 1 provincial gold medal was won by the Huskie Premier squad, which downed the Swift Current Sundogs in two straight sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-23 in the gold medal game. The Division 1 competition saw a total of 10 teams battle it out on the court over the three-day tournament.

The Arcola Southeast Vipers captured the 18U Women’s Division 2 provincial championship, downing the Regina Cougars in two straight sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-21 in the final. There were a total of 10 teams in the Division 2 competition.

Altogether, the 18U Women’s provincial tournament included 33 teams in three divisions. The event was the latest in a series of provincial volleyball championships that stretches over consecutive weekends from early April to early May.

Division 1 teams included Huskie Premier, Lanigan VC, Stealth VC, Esterhazy Heat, Saskatoon Wolfpack, Swift Current Sundogs, Huskie Elite, Regina Summit, Lloydminster Rustlers Gold and Regina QCVC Elite.

Division 2 teams included Moose Jaw TCVC, Saskatoon Outlanders, Regina QCVC Selects, Kipling Wheatland Attack, Arcola Southeast Vipers, Regina Cougars, Saskatoon JCVC Red, Carnduff Tigers, Yorkton Blitz Black and Prince Albert TVC Inferno.

Division 3 teams included Moose Jaw GTVC, Fishing Lake VC, Regina QCVC Purple, Kahkewistahaw Soaring Eagles VC, Medstead Northwest Wild, Fox Valley Southwest Raiders, Broderick Bisons VC, Saskatoon JCVC Black, Warman CVVC Aces, Lloydminster Rustlers Green, Makwa Avengers, Plenty Rush and Weyburn Surge.

The City of Warman hosted several tournaments, with one final event scheduled for the weekend of May 1-3.
