STARS Saskatoon crew members are flying high after two major wins at the 2025 Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) in Omaha, Nebraska October 27-29.
Flight nurse Bailey Sinclair and flight paramedic DJ Weselowski captured first place in the AAMS Sim Cup, a demanding competition that tested participants through three high-intensity clinical scenarios over 48 hours.
The pair faced an exceptionally challenging final case—a complex farm accident involving five critical patients, including a pediatric patient, and scenarios of major trauma and anhydrous ammonia toxicity.
Despite the pressure, they demonstrated remarkable composure, clinical expertise, and teamwork, rising above top air medical teams from across North America to claim the championship title.
Bailey and DJ spent months preparing for the competition, dedicating countless hours to simulation practice, refining their clinical decision-making, and pushing themselves to perform at the highest level. Their achievement is a true reflection of their hard work, dedication, and professionalism—qualities that embody the spirit of STARS.
Adding to the success, STARS Clinical Educator Tanis Jelinski—who was born and raised in Warman, Saskatchewan, and serves as the Clinical Educator for the Saskatoon team—alongside Chad Hegge, took first place in the Clinical Challenge, with DJ and Bailey securing second place, just one point behind.
DJ Weselowski, who was also born and raised in Warman and continues to live there, proudly represented his hometown and province on the national stage.
