The Martensville Chiefs Junior ‘B’ hockey team are on a three-game winning streak, improving their record to 4-2 within the Prairie Junior Hockey League.

The Chiefs’ streak began on Wednesday, October 8, when they hosted the Saskatoon Royals at the Martensville Sports Centre.

The Chiefs jumped out to a considerable 5-1 lead in the first period off two goals by Jesse Borschneck (one of which was unassisted) and three more goals by Luc Fortier, Caleb Pockrant and Jack Puckett.

In the second period, Fortier scored his second goal of the evening along with Liam Dechaine. Saskatoon answered back with three goals of their own to improve the score to 7-4.

In the third period, the Chiefs and Royals each notched two goals to finalize the score at 9-6. Hayden Meszaros and Luke Senick scored on behalf of Martensville.

On Saturday, October 11, the Chiefs hit the road to face the Carrot River Thunder at Kearns Arena where they earned a 6-1 victory.

The game started off slowly, with Meszaros scoring the sole goal of the first period on a power play. The Thunder were able to tie up the game early in the second period.

Then the Chiefs ran away with the match, with Luke Senick scoring one regular and one power play goal in the second period, Meszaros scoring a second goal in the third on a power play, and Garin Lammers and Dylan Prince adding two more goals.

Notably, four of the Chiefs’ goals that evening were power play conversions.

Finally, the Chiefs faced the Prince Albert Timberjaks at the Northern Regional Rec Centre on Sunday, October 12.

Carter Mason scored the lone goal of the first period for the Chiefs, though Borschneck and Fortier improved the Chiefs’ lead to 3-0 in the first half of second period.

After Prince Albert responded with two goals, Jeffrey Stewart scored unassisted in the third period to give the Chiefs a 4-2 win.

The Chiefs are again on the road this week, facing the Saskatoon Quakers at the Rod Hamm Arena on Thursday, October 16 and the Extreme Hockey Regina Capitals at the Al Ritchie Arena on Saturday, October 18.
