On Monday, September 22, eight members of the Corman Park Police Service (CPPS) attended the seventh annual MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Canada Van De Vorst Family award ceremony where they received awards for their work in removing impaired drivers from the roads. The Van De Vorst Family award is named in honour of Jordan and Chanda Van De Vorst and their young children, Kamryn and Miguire, who were tragically killed by an impaired driver in 2016.
On September 19 at 9:16 a.m. while on patrol, CPPS observed a female laying on the highway at the Highway 12 and Highway 11 junction. The female was arrested for being intoxicated in public and taken to Saskatoon RCMP cells where she was held until sober.
On September 20 at 10:30 p.m. while on patrol, CPPS observed a vehicle travel through a stop sign at Cory Road and Highway 12, travel across the northbound lanes of Highway 12 and then turn onto the southbound lanes of Highway 12 northbound before stopping on the shoulder where CPPS performed a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver displayed signs of alcohol impairment and blew a fail into a roadside screening device. While interacting with the driver, multiple 911 calls involving the vehicle were dispatched. The driver was transported to Martensville RCMP detachment where they provided two samples of breath resulting in 100 mgs% and 80 mgs%. The driver was released with a court date to attend Saskatoon Provincial Court facing charges of impaired operation and impaired operation over .08.
On September 21 at 10:28 a.m., CPPS received a call that a male had attended to a residence in Grasswood, covered the doorbell camera and then rang the doorbell. CPPS attended and made patrols for the male, who was not located.
On September 22 at 4:31 p.m., CPPS received a call of a fire in Eldorado Estates. CPPS attended with Saskatoon Fire, who extinguished a fire which had localized to the garage. There were no injuries.
On September 23 at approximately 5:30 p.m., DOCC dispatched a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) for a stolen vehicle which had left Saskatoon northbound. CPPS members observed the vehicle parked along Highway 11 near Township Road 384 with one occupant, who was taken into custody without incident. The occupant was charged with one count of possession of stolen property and was also arrested on warrants out of the Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. The male was held in custody to appear in court the following day.
