The RM of Corman Park implemented a total fire ban on Tuesday, May 27.
A previous fire ban was lifted May 22 following a period of much-needed rainfall. But several days of dry conditions has increased the fire risk substantially, according to the RM.
All outdoor fires within the R.M. are prohibited until further notice or until such a time that the fire ban is lifted.
All outdoor fires presently burning are to be promptly extinguished and the lighting of any outdoor fires is prohibited. Fires prohibited during this fire ban include fire pits, burning barrels, controlled burns, and fireworks. This fire ban does not apply to internal household fireplaces, propane/natural gas/pellet/briquette-fueled cooking equipment (e.g. barbeques or smokers), propane/natural gas fire pits/tables, or fires lit by Fire Protection Organizations for training or preventative control measures.
As per Municipal Order under Bylaw 05/21, R.M. Fire Services Bylaw, the total Fire
Ban will be in effect until deemed appropriate to change.
