The total value of construction permits issued during the first four months of 2025 in Warman is more than double what it was for the same period last year.
In a report to the Warman City Council Committee of the Whole meeting on May 20, the city’s planning department stated there were 133 building permits, worth a combined total value of $30,324,589, issued between January 1 and May 8, 2025.
This compares to 114 building permits valued at $14,696,938 issued between January 1 and May 8, 2024.
The biggest increase in value comes from construction of commercial buildings. There were 11 commercial building permits issued so far this year with a combined value at $11,670,000. In 2024, there were 12 commercial permits issued for the same period, but the combined value of those permits was just $2,913,112.
There was also a healthy increase in the value of residential dwellings so far this year. Permits were issued for 55 single family homes and two multi-family buildings (comprising 26 units) worth a combined value of $17,162,200. During the same period in 2024, there were 21 single family homes and three multi-family dwellings (15 units) valued at $9,919,300.
The number and value of renovations and additions in Warman so far is similar to the same period last year.
MARTENSVILLE PERMITS
The construction sector is also booming in Martensville.
Statistics posted on the City of Martensville website by the city’s planning department show that between January 1 and April 30, 2025, there were 288 building permits issued worth a combined value of $25,730,483.03.
That’s more than the city saw during the entire 12 months of 2024, when there were 220 permits issued valued at $20,735,402.00.
So far this year, the largest project in Martensville is a $19 million multiple unit dwelling. The building permit for that project was issued February 20, 2025.
One multi-family dwelling, worth $1.145 million, was issued a permit on March 11.
The largest commercial construction permit issued so far this year in Martensville was for a project with a value of $1.5 million, issued on April 7.
The busiest year for construction in Martensville was in 2015, when the value of all permits set a record high of $63,231,469. The second-highest value of construction was set in 2022, when it reached $60,444,373.
