On May 10 at approximately 5:58 p.m. Corman Park Police Service (CPPS) received a call of a vehicle fire on Highwy 16 and Zimmerman Road. CPPS attended with Saskatoon RCMP where a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta had caught fire in the front dash area, causing extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. The owner was still on scene and uninjured. Saskatoon RCMP took the file and had the vehicle towed from the scene.
On May 14 around 1:45 a.m. CPPS witnessed a white GMC Terrain come close to hitting a light post at the corner of 22nd Street and Fairlight Drive in Saskatoon. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver admitted to drinking beverage alcohol and provided a sample of breath that resulted in a reading of a FAIL. She was issued a provincial suspension and had her vehicle impounded as a novice driver.
On May 13 at 3:25 p.m., on Highway 12 near Township Road 384, a male driver was found to be operating a red Ford F150 under the influence of cannabis after testing positive on ADSE. He was subsequently issued a seven-day Driver’s License suspension and seven-day vehicle impound as he was operating with his nine-year-old and 13-year-old children in the vehicle.
On May 16 at 9:50 a.m., CPPS was dispatched to a suspected impaired driver in a silver Pontiac Sunfire that was in the ditch located on Township Road 364 near Range Road 3065. The plate did not match the car. Police ran the VIN through CPIC to find it was stolen from Saskatoon. The driver was arrested for possession of stolen property and the two passengers were arrested on outstanding warrants. The driver was released to appear in provincial court in June.
On May 17 at 6:43 a.m., CPPS received a call from LG Concrete 2019 LTD reporting that sometime overnight at his property located at 306344 Township Road 374, someone had attempted to steal a vehicle. He advised that there was damage to both door handles, the ignition, fuse box, and a tool box in the box of the truck. Nothing else appeared to have been stolen from his property and none of his buildings appeared to have been broken into.
On May 17 between the hours of 1:56 p.m. and 4:05 p.m., CPPS partook in a joint forces traffic project targeting speed on Valley Road and Township Road 362A with RCMP Combined Traffic Services. A total of 21 traffic tickets were issued.
On May 25 at approximately 5:40 p.m., CPPS was traversing through the city when a grey Cadillac car with a damaged front end drove past. CPPS saw the vehicle turn and could see the it was on the wrong side of the road. Police located the subject vehicle unoccupied in front of a residence. The driver came out of his house to speak with police and was arrested for impaired operation, exceeding 80mg%, dangerous operation of a conveyance and hit and run. As the incident occurred in the city, custody was transferred to Saskatoon Police Service.
On May 25 at 3:00 p.m., CPPS received a call from Saskatoon Fire and Protective services regarding a structure fire o Range Road 3041. Saskatoon Fire stated a shed had caught on fire and had spread to three vehicles parked beside it. The property owner stated that he was doing yard work with his family and had gone into the house for a break, they then looked out the window and noticed the shed behind the house had caught fire. No injuries to occupants occurred.
