Firefighters from Osler, Warman and Martensville battled a large structure fire on an acreage in the RM of Corman Park west of Osler on Wednesday, February 12.
One person has been taken to hospital by ambulance with undetermined injuries.
Osler Fire Department responded to the call at about 11 a.m. Shortly after responding, Warman Fire Rescue and Martensville Fire Department were also called in to provide mutual aid.
Warman RCMP, Corman Park Police and Medavie Health Services West paramedics also responded.
The fire is located on an acreage near the intersection of Township Road 394 and Range Road 3053. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage to structures is currently not known.
Fire pumper and tanker trucks from all three fire departments, as well as several police vehicles arrived on scene shortly after the call came in. Meanwhile, a large plume of black and grey smoke could be seen from several kilometres away. The smoke, fanned by a southwest breeze, drifted northeastward and stood out starkly against an otherwise clear blue winter sky.
Firefighters not only had to contend with the large blaze, but also with intense cold. Temperatures at around noon hovered in the -30C range. Water to fight the fire had to be transported by tanker from Martensville.
One person, believed to be a male, was transported by ground ambulance to hospital in Saskatoon. STARS helicopter had been alerted to fly to the location but was later cancelled before it took off.
