By CHIEF RON CHOMYN, Corman Park Police Service

In addition to the incidents below, Corman Park Police Service (CPPS) responded and assisted to numerous accidents with our law enforcement partners in January.

Still, despite an alarming increase in fatalities so far in 2025, police still see motorists driving aggressively and dangerously, even in adverse conditions.

The speed limits on highways and RM roads are based on use under ideal conditions. Covered in ice, visibility reduced by blowing snow and other winter driving factors should be considered when traveling. When driving in slick conditions, allow three times the normal distance between vehicles and keep your headlights on so drivers behind you can see your taillights – don’t rely on daytime running lights.

If you go off the highway and become stuck your vehicle provides temporary shelter and makes it easier for responders to locate you. Do not try to walk in a severe storm. It is easy to lose sight of your vehicle in blowing snow and become lost.

Finally, remember that you’re legally required to drive according to road conditions and can be charged if you do not.

CPPS, MFD, and Warman RCMP responded to the scene, where the Warman RCMP assumed command. The vehicle then slowed and stopped at Highway 11 and TWP 382. Police exited their vehicle and the driver sped away south towards Saskatoon. At Wanuskewin Road and Highway 11, the vehicle turned back northbound. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle by using a tire deflation device at TWP 384.
