The Martensville Marauders were the A side champions at the 16-team Fred McBeth Western Canadian U18AA tournament held in Regina January 10-13.
The Martensville squad went undefeated, starting with 5-3 win over Prairie Storm on Friday. They followed that up with Saturday’s 6-2 win against Swift Current Broncos and a 2-2 tie against Alberta’s Sturgeon Sting. They capped off a great tournament with a 3-1 win over the Saskatoon Screaming Eagles and 6-2 win over South East Oilers on Sunday.
Clark Goebel and Parker Livingstone led the team with four goals each.
As with their previous tournament win in November, the Marauders received top-level play from their goaltenders. Austin Adamus had 41 saves in a win against Swift Current and 39 saves in a win against the Saskatoon Screaming Eagles for an amazing .964 save percentage. Josh Olson had 34 saves against the Prairie Storm, 27 saves against the Sturgeon Sting and 23 saves against the Southeast Oilers in the tournament finale.
