Pike Lake’s Rylan Wiens was nominated for Sask Sport’s Male Athlete of the Year; and Borden’s Savannah Sutherland and Waldheim’s Carissa Norsten have both been nominated for Female Athlete of the Year.

Weins was a 2024 bronze Olympic medallist in Paris where he claimed Canada’s first medal in the men’s 10-metre synchronized platform event and finished seventh in the individual event, while also capturing a pair of silver medals at the World Cup.

Sutherland was nominated by Saskatchewan Athletics. She was a two-time Olympic finalist who debuted in Paris in the women’s 400-metre hurdles to finish seventh. She also finished sixth in the 4×400-m relay before going on to win a silver medal  and set a Canadian 400 m hurdles record at the college NCAA championships in June. 

Norsten was 2024 HSBC SVNS Female Rookie of the Year, capturing a historic silver medal with the Canadian women’s sevens rugby team at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, while also medalling at the Canada West and U SPORTS championships.
