The Warman U15AA Wildcats sewed up second place in the Saskatchewan U15AA Hockey League’s north division with a 9-2 win over Martensville Marauders in Martensville on Sunday, December 1. The Wildcats, with 22 points and a record of 11-3-0-0, are now one point back of the first-place Saskatoon Bandits (11-1-1-0 for 23 points) and one point up on the third-place NorthWest Stars (9-3-1-2 for 21 points).
In Sunday’s game, the teams were evenly matched in the opening period, with 17 shots apiece and the score tied 2-2 after 20 minutes. The Marauders’ scorers were Weston Kostiuk and Paxton Hale; while Camryn Aebig netted both first-period goals for the Wildcats.
The second period saw the ice tilted in Warman’s favour, with five unanswered goals by Beau Anholt, Kobe Pellack, Walker Bergen, Maclain Ethier and Ashton Root. The Wildcats added another two more markers from Caleb Philp and Beau Anholt in the final frame. Warman goaltender Kason Peters and Martensville netminder David Tews both had their hands full in a game that saw plenty of offense at both ends of the ice.
