The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is warning of a possible exposure to salmonella typhi (ie. typhoid fever) for anyone who consumed products from the Domino’s Pizza at 717 Centennial Drive S. in Martensville from Oct. 11-19.
The notice was posted to the SHA website on Nov. 5 and was shared to the City of Martensville Facebook page.
Typhoid fever is a severe illness that can cause fever, headache, a general feeling of unwellness and fatigue, constipation, diarrhea and vomiting, though some individuals may develop more severe symptoms.
It is spread through eating food and/or water contaminated with the bacteria. Symptoms may develop anywhere between three to 60 days after exposure, though it is typically eight to 14 days.
Typhoid fever infection is rare and ultimately treatable with antibiotics. The risk to those exposed is low.
However, if you consumed food products from this location and are experiencing symptoms of typhoid fever, you should contact your health professional or call 811.
