Five Prairie Spirit School Division (PSSD) Board of Education trustees were elected by acclamation at the close of nominations October 10.
But, there will be elections in six PSSD subdivisions on November 13.
The candidates who were acclaimed include: incumbent Kate Kading (Subdivision 2 – Rosthern, Hague and Duck Lake), newcomer Cindy Friesen (Subdivision 5 – Asquith, Perdue and Eagle Creek), incumbent Kimberly MacLean (Subdivision 9 – Martensville), incumbent Adin Dereniwski (Subdivision 10 – Warman), and incumbent Kimberly Greyeyes (Subdivision 11 – Muskeg Lake Cree Nation).
Two candidates, incumbent Pam Wieler and challenger Wendy Friesen, are vying for the school board position in Subdivision 1 (Blaine Lake, Laird, Leak and Waldheim).
Melissa Hosegood, Neal Maksymiw, and Emily Summach are running for the school board seat in Subdivision 3 (Borden and Langham). The subdivision seat is currently vacant heading into the election
Incumbent Christa-Ann Willems and challenger Carrie Lalonde are the school board candidates running in Subdivision 4 (Dalmeny, Hepburn and Osler).
Incumbent Bernard Howe and challenger Shelby Poggemiller are contesting the school board seat for Subdivision 6 (Delisle, Pike Lake, Vanscoy and Willow Park Colony).
Three candidates: Rhonda Lavoie, Bernie Martineau, and Michelle Spray, are running for the school board seat in Subdivision 7 (Clavet, Dundurn, Hanley, South Corman Park and Hillcrest Colony). Incumbent Dawne Badrock chose not to see re-election.
There are two candidates: incumbent Grace Wudrick, and challenger Michael Richards, contesting the seat for Subdivision 8 (Aberdeen, Allan, Colonsay, Riverview Colony and Lost River Colony).
Prairie Spirit Board of Education Trustees are dedicated to ensuring students in Prairie Spirit School Division receive high quality education and supports.
Trustees are elected for a four-year term and represent 11 subdivisions in the school division. The current Board of Education was elected in November 2020 for a four-year term.
