The Rosthern Harvest Festival featured one of the best parades from this summer as well as an incredible array of options for people to enjoy during the day.
There were bargains for shoppers, as well as great food choices like pancakes, beavertails, ice cream treats, spring rolls, noodles, pork on a stick, hot dogs, smokies, burgers, taco in a bag, corn on the cob, curly fries, watermelon and, of course, rollkuchen.
After chowing down, there was plenty of other stuff to see and do: a parade, live music, a slo-pitch tournament, a car show, a book sale, bouncy castles, a street market, bingo, quilt show, museum tours, treasure dig, Living Sky Wildlife Booth and many other family activities.
Just a short drive out of Rosthern, at the historic Seagar Wheeler Farm, an entertaining gymkhana featured riders dressed in costumes. Riders then changed back into regular gear and participated in events designed to showcase precise controlled actions and the teamwork between the horse and rider. There was also a petting zoo at the farm, which was a big hit with the younger set.
