The Rural Municipality (RM) of Corman Park is implementing a total fire ban effective at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.

A notice issued July 19 by Corman Park Chief Administrative Officer Kerry Hilts said the fire ban is due to extremely dry conditions.

The fire ban does not allow for any open flame fires to be lit within the RM of Corman Park until such time as the ban is lifted. The fire ban was implemented under the municipality’s Fire Services Bylaw following consultations with fire chiefs in urban municipalities located within the RM.

“All fires within the RM are banned,” stated the notice. “This requires all outdoor fires presently burning to be extinguished and the lighting of any outdoor fires is prohibited. This ban includes fire pits, burning barrels, controlled burns, and fireworks, with the only exceptions being internal household fireplaces and gas-fueled equipment such as propane barbecue or propane fire pit.”
