For the fifteenth straight year, the Clark’s Crossing Gazette has earned several Saskatchewan Weekly Newspaper Association (SWNA) Better Newspapers Competition awards for its reporting, photography and design.

Gazette reporter Terry Pugh was awarded first place  honours in the ‘Best Government Coverage’ category for  a series of articles covering Martensville City Council’s debate about contracting out the management and operations of the city’s new multi-puporse recreational facility.

He also won first place for ‘Best Page Design’ for his sports page layout featuring BMX racers during a national competition at the Diamond BMX track in Warman.

Gazette photographer Wayne Shiels won second place honours in the ‘Best Wildlife Photo’ category for his image of a Bohemian Waxwing enjoying a meal of frozen berries.

Shiels won third place in the ‘Best People Photo’ category for his shot of a father and child skating at the Martensville Sports Centre during the community’s ‘Play and Skate with Santa’ event last December.

Gazette graphic designer Jodie Unruh won third place for her creative advertisement promoting the Chicken Farmers of Saskatchewan.

Since 2010, the Gazette has earned a total of 129 SWNA Better Newspaper Competition awards, including 43 first place honours https://www.ccgazette.ca/awards/.
