Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) crews responded to a grass fire in the RM of Corman Park southeast of Saskatoon on Tuesday, April 9.
According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, the blaze was halfway between the city and Clavet on Highway 16 and south on Range Road 3041.
The fire was reported at 12:18 p.m.. According to a news release, SFD members arrived to find a controlled burn had gotten out of control.
By the time fire crews were dispatched, the fire had grown to approximately 200 hectares (494 acres) in size.
SFD crews advanced multiple hose lines and used grassland fire trucks simultaneously.
Fire crews were still on the scene in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 10, extinguishing hot spots.
