The Warman Wildcats, Swift Current Legionnaires and Prince Albert Mintos are the three Saskatchewan U18AAA teams competing in the Circle K Classic, a prestigious ice hockey tournament held annually in Calgary during December for U18 players.
The tournament was first held in 1978 as the CP Challenge Cup, and later was commonly referred as the Macs U18AAA Tournament.
In 2022 it was rebranded as the Circle K Classic. Its Wall of Fame includes many great NHL players who participated in the tournament such as Sydney Crosby, Jarome Iginla, Wendel Clark, Cory Sarich, Brian Skrudland, Peter Zesel Luke Schenn, Jared Cowan, Jordan Eberle and Curtis Leschyshyn.
The Circle K Classic tournament currently features 32 male teams from across Canada, the United States and Europe.
This includes 11 teams from Alberta, seven from British Columbia, three from Saskatchewan, one from Europe and one from Eastern Canada.
Warman had been previously invited to participate in the December 2021-22 tournament that was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
